Integrated Co-occurring Services (ICOS) are provided for the benefit of eligible individuals who are in need of chemical dependency treatment in conjunction with their treatment for severe and persistent mental illness. Services at ICOS are structured using the evidence-based model of Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) which provides for varying levels of treatment to meet the specific needs of those experiencing co-occurring mental health and chemical dependency disorders. Case managers, therapists, and licensed chemical dependency professionals help consumers through the use of a harm reduction approach which does not require immediate abstinence for services to begin. Treatment is strengths based and community focused and assists consumers by increasing their ability to manage their illness, decrease their use of addictive substances and improve the quality of their lives while residing in their own community.
IOCS makes numerous psychoeducational and therapeutic groups available for consumers and assists them in accessing needed entitlements, acquiring or maintaining housing, addressing educational and vocational needs, identifying and strengthening problem-solving skills, and increasing their ability to have meaningful relationships. Case managers, therapists, and licensed chemical dependency professionals work together with consumers to develop specific, individualized goals and objectives for treatment that are consumer driven and recovery focused. We emphasize coordination and collaboration with each consumer’s family members, community partners and other natural supports.
