About SMH/History

Spokane Mental Health (SMH) was incorporated in 1969 through the merging of three small mental health agencies: Child Guidance Clinic, Mental Health Association, and Crisis Clinic of Spokane.

As a consolidated organization, SMH began providing cost effective and comprehensive care in 1970. Today, approximately 400 staff provide an array of integrated services to over 10,000 individuals and families each year.

The Spokane Mental Health logo represents a human figure and a shadow image. The foreground figure represents a person who is filled with hope and courage and has emerged from the shadow image which appears disheartened or not living to its full potential.  The sun represents the warmth and caring each individual receives here at Spokane Mental Health. The logo incorporates life's hope, creativity, and potential for each individual we serve.
