Care Cars for Elders
Providing volunteer escort transportation service for seniors who need special assistance getting to and from medical appointments. Care Cars for Elders began in 1984 in response to the need for one-on-one escorted transportation to essential services for people 60 and older in Spokane County who are disabled and require special asssistance. Today, Care Cars provides over 3,000 rides per year for over 300 disabled/impaired home dwelling seniors. Who is eligible? You are eligible for Care Cars Services if you are sixty years of age or older, require an escort to access medical appointments, and cannot utilize other available modes of transportation. Many Spokane County elders live alone and have no one to transport them to essential medical appointments and they cannot use public transportation due to limitations/special needs.
