Quality Improvement

Spokane Mental Health maintains a quality management and improvement process to ensure the quality, appropriateness, and necessity of consumer care and professional practice. This is accomplished by establishing structure, process and outcome indicators, standards and criteria to monitor, evaluate and improve functions and processes that influence the consumer care system.

The governing Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for the quality of services provided by Spokane Mental Health. The Board delegates the day-to-day planning and oversight of Quality Improvement Activities to the Leadership Council of SMH. The Leadership Council reviews policies, procedures, plans or other documents related to the administration and implementation of the Quality Improvement / Management Plan.

SMH maintains a Quality Improvement/Management structure that includes several committees, each charged with a particular focus of care, and guided by the overall Quality Improvement Committee. The committees are cross-functional, promoting a broad representation of staff from all functional areas to participate in the process of monitoring and improving the quality of care at SMH.
