Spokane, Washington
Did you know Spokane was the smallest city in size to host a World's Fair? This was in 1974. Ever wonder about Father’s Day? The first person to lobby for a special day for dads was a housewife from Spokane named Sonora Smart Dodd. Spokane County is located on the Eastern border of Washington and has an estimated population of 432,000 people. The largest city in Spokane County is the city of Spokane. The prosperity of the City of Spokane in the 19th and early 20th centuries was based on resource extraction, and its history includes the silver boom, the timber boom and a trading boom that followed the coming of the railroads. Their legacy was a downtown area filled with graceful historic buildings set on wide streets above the magnificent falls of the Spokane River. Click on the links below to get more |
